Here is an interesting article about how the Mandarin Oriental hotels help its employees to cope with the stress at work and the idea is “to create a safe and relaxing environment for employees”.
For example, the Mandarin Oriental in Washington opened a “colleague resource center” which offers employees different services such as weight loss, stop-smoking programs, language, and personal therapy. Suffering at work can also have a very bad impact on people’s personal life as they spend most of their time at work. This kind of program can help them to balance their personal and professional life.
In my opinion it is important to take care of employees in every organization. It helps to motivate them, deal with problems more easily, to be productive. We focus a lot on a high quality service to a customer, how to improve the service, what is the best for the customer and we often forget what also would be good to improve the work situation for employees. Who wouldn’t like to work in a friendly environment? It is always encouraging to work in a nice environment where people are appreciated.
I’m agree with you Nodira. When employees can work in peaceful atmosphere that help them in being excellent in their day to day duty. Mandarin Oriental has an excellent program, by doing so, their employees will feel much more comfortable and the guests satisfactions will be positively affected.
ReplyDeleteIt is noticeable to see some hotel doing such effort for their staff member, by reading this article I’m seduced by Mandarin Oriental philosophy.
I also agree with you ;) I definitly believe that if you take care of your employees, they will be be more efficient and will take better care of your customers ! Some companies already had this policy, such as Four Seasons. They pay you better, you have a good cafetaria... but they have no concrete actions on the daily life ! and i believe that the type of actions taken by Mandarin are concrete actions that can realy improve the employee's daily life ! Because being better paid helps you accepting the stressing and tiring work days, but there is no consequence on your daily life. a concrete example : imagine you're a receptionist. You arrive at work, you are in a bad mood and exhausted. You are not likely to smile to guests, and be nice to them, you will take longer time to make your work... and it will last all day long. While with this type of actions, you can have a 20 min break, have a rest, and feel better ! and after you are more productive and smily. It is a Win-Win action !
ReplyDeleteAs for me i am still waiting for nap rooms !
